Community Installation

Summit Recreation offers a cost-effective, efficient, and fun installation service called Community Installation. This service uses a team of volunteers from within the community to build your new playground, which creates a sense of pride and togetherness while providing cost savings and expert direction to turn your playground dreams into a reality.

Summit Recreation will provide an onsite Certified Playground Safety Inspector to supervise the installation, as well as manufacture-trained equipment installers to help guide your volunteers through the building process and to inspect the playground at completion. This ensures a smooth, efficient process so that your play equipment is maintained properly and complies with manufacturer’s specifications and recommendations, current federal safety standards and regulations, and the CPSC, and ASTM 1487 & ASTM 2223 guidelines.

Additionally, Summit Recreation will provide all the necessary equipment t0 offload a  tractor-trailer full of playground equipment, as well as to dig the necessary footers for all the play-structure posts. We will bring our own skid steer, which is fully equipped with forklift forks and augers in order to efficiently complete the hard physical labor that cannot be tackled by hand. We bring laser levels to make sure you play structure is built precisely to manufacturer specifications, as well as manufacturer specific specialty wrenches which cannot be purchased independently. We also ensure that your playground safety surfacing is correctly installed at the proper depths within the equipment use zone to accommodate for all fall height requirements.

Summit Recreation asks that once your playground equipment is ordered, one or two designated project coordinators be responsible for signing up volunteers (20-30 per day for the average-sized playground), arranging for the necessary tools, coordinating the food and refreshments, and being a point of contact to answer any timing and project coordination questions that volunteers may have.  Volunteers appreciate the direction that these much needed project coordinators supply, as they help the entire build stay on schedule and be completed in a hitch-free, efficient way. Once the project coordinators help organize the rest of the volunteer force, the community is prepared to come together and help make your playground dreams become a reality. The entire community installation process serves as an ideal way to draw the entire community together and join forces to build an amazing playground and create a sense of pride and accomplishment for children and families involved!
