It is vital to maintain playground equipment and safety surfacing so that it is kept in optimum condition and service ensuring that it continues to meet playground safety standards. It is important to conduct periodic safety and maintenance inspection on your playgrounds and should generally include at minimum the following points:
Besides the periodic inspection it is also important to frequently check the playground area to ensure there are no broken glass pieces, hazardous trash, presence of animal waste, etc. Playgrounds should be cleaned and sanitized regularly to create a hygienic area of play for the children.
Broken playground equipment should be put out of service until the component can be replaced, repaired or permanently removed from the site.
